HIKAYA Bakhoor Kit

I worked on creating the brand strategy and visual identity for "HIKAYA" gift shop. By developing the strategy and identity, I focused on reflecting the brand’s core goal: to create a sustainable environment and spread the stories of Bahraini artisans and culture. As the brand philosophy says, “Each gift tells a story!” Beside the branding, I designed a sustainable souvenir Bakhoor kit that reflects the brand’s mission and vision. I included clear instructional design on how to use the Bakhoor, allowing foreigners to learn more about Bahraini culture and the “soul” of our traditions.

The challenge

The challenge was to design a sustainable souvenir kit that reflects Bahraini traditions without losing the brand’s luxury feel. Despite a short timeframe and limited local sustainable materials, I aimed to create a premium product using eco-friendly resources. To solve this, I designed the primary packaging as a reusable clay Bakhoor burner and developed a handmade, sustainable alternative to plastic foam

This is the initial 3D design idea for the primary and secondary packaging, modeled using Blender.

For the packaging, I designed a souvenir Bakhoor kit that represents Bahraini culture. The primary packaging features a reusable burner inspired by the shape of a pearl, crafted from pottery to reflect Bahraini heritage.

Additionally, I used reusable linen fabric to store the kit’s components. Including charcoal, oud, cone oud, tongs, and the instructional design.

For the secondary packaging is constructed from cardboard using UV printing, which has a lower environmental impact than traditional inks. Furthermore, to protect the primary packaging, I developed a handmade replacement for plastic foam using sawdust, which securely cushions the product and enhances the kit's sustainability.
